Definition of AUTOMATON

1: a mechanism that is relatively self-operating; especially : robot
2: a machine or control mechanism designed to follow automatically a predetermined sequence of operations or respond to encoded instructions
3: an individual who acts in a mechanical fashion

As seen in its definition, an automaton reacts on behalf of its programming.  You can also see a causal link between the automaton and those who have power. (Action/Reaction, Cause and Effect)

An automaton's behavior is a direct reflection of its programming.   The effect of its programming reflects the purpose of its programmer.  Human behavior is destroying the planet at a break-neck pace.    Key word here is, "destroying".
