I find that matters are quite otherwise. There are several points worth noting in the article to which the link points, so here is most of it, plus some comments: "Vegetarian Antichrist is 'walking among us'" "FROM RICHARD OWEN IN ROME" "THE leading conservative contender to succeed the Pope yesterday said that the "Antichrist" was already on Earth in the guise of a prominent philanthropist whose concern for human rights and the environment and advocacy of ecumenicism masks his real aim: the destruction of Christianity and "the death of God". "Cardinal Giacomo Biffi, 71, the Archbishop of Bologna, said the Antichrist was not the beast with seven heads described in the Book of Revelation but a "fascinating personality" whose outward charm and plausibility had deceived his enemies. Cardinal Biffi said the Antichrist espoused vegetarianism, pacifism, environmentalism and animal rights." [I don't keep track of papal politics, but I don't remember Cardinal Biffi from any list of "papabili," if that's the word, meaning people who might become pope. Actually campaigning for a papal election is grounds for excommunication, by the way. Think of the negative ads.] [snip] "The cardinal did not say whether he had any particular world figure in mind, and his real target seemed to be the substitution of "feel-good" causes, such as ecology and humanitarian aid, for 'true religion'." [The Canadian businessman and supporter of international organizations, Maurice Strong, seems to be the sort of person the cardinal has in mind. At any rate, Strong is often mentioned as possibly either the Antichrist or one of his confederates.] "His remarks appeared to mark out part of the conservative agenda ahead of the next conclave to elect a Pope. The physical decline of Pope John Paul II, 79, has sparked off jostling for position among the cardinals who stand to replace him." [The point to keep in mind about JPII is that, regardless of what the New York Times believes, he has never been a conservative. His successor may well be. There is no need to panic, unless he decides to call himself Peter II.] "Cardinal Biffi was speaking at a conference in Bologna on the work of Vladimir Solovyov (1853-1900), the Russian philosopher and mystic, whom he praised as a "forgotten prophet" who had "lucidly foreseen" the horrors of the 20th century. In his last writings, the cardinal said, Solovyov had predicted the rise of the Antichrist after a century of bloodshed, wars, revolutions and the breakdown of the nation state." [He is not all that forgotten: I have here a recent paperback reissue of his "War, Progress and the End of History." In this book, the Antichrist (and one of his precursors) is a particularly annoying philanthropist. Stephen Carter, the constitutional scholar, sometimes sounds a bit like Solovyov in drawing attention to the totalitarian streak in liberalism, but that may not be feature of Solovyov's thought that impresses Cardinal Biffi.] [comments above not those of watcher website] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From True Bible -Believers Denounced At Papal Conference Meanwhile, the splinter group of Catholic traditionalists that recently chose Capuchin Priest Lucien Pulvermacher as "His Holiness, Pope Pius XIII," have now declared the four Popes reigning in Rome since 1958, including Pope John Paul II, to be "apostate imposters." The recent Popes are accused of having worked to transform and spawn the Roman Catholic Church into a literal "Church of Satan." Pope Language Betrays Anti Christian Agenda So, here it is October, 1999, and I came across a document called "Evangelicals and Catholics Together" (ECT) - "THE CHRISTIAN MISSION IN THE THIRD MILLENNIUM". So, since it sounded just as bilious and sinister as the Pope's encyclical letter, I did another word count, and made some other interesting observations on this as well. I had a feeling that the words would tell a tale, and they did: CHRISTIAN: 29 times; CHRIST: 15 times; JESUS: 1 time! Bit by bit, they are working on completely rooting out the name "Jesus" all together. This not only re-emphasizes what's mentioned in above statements, but also shows their intent on blurring the distinction between their "CHRISTIAN" and what is a True Christian, as well as the distinction of the OFFICE "CHRIST". They are slowly, methodically, intentionally stripping the definition of what (used to be?) a TRUE Christian; a follower of JESUS, and replacing it with this muddled and nondescript false "CHRISTIAN" identity they have invented. It doesn't fool me - How about you? Here are some other revealing word counts found in the first search: The word "mystery": 64 times; The word "unity": 49 times; The word "her ": 72 times. Hmmm... VERY interesting indeed... From Pope & Clinton at Bilderberg 1999 What do Steven Spielberg, Pope John Paul II, Ted Turner, Boris Yeltsin, Bill Clinton and House Speaker Dennis Hastert have in common? They are among those on a "partial guest list" of expected attendees to the 1999 Bilderberg meeting in Portugal scheduled for next week. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Watcher Website comments: The Catholic Church will not know the identity of the scriptural antichrist, since they will be fooled along with the rest of the world into supporting the seemingly heroic peace-bringer. The world leader who will be the real antichrist of prophecy will not be an enemy of Catholics, but will actually be set up and supported by Rome. Whoever the antichrist is proclaimed to be, according to the Pope, will surely be a False Antichrist -- if you can wrap your mind around such a thing ; ) This False Antichrist will be defeated and thereby set everyone's mind at ease, so they are no longer looking for antichrist, and then the true "man of sin" of scripture will arrive.
