From: EGYPTNEWS@aol.com Subject: GIZA Y2K CELEBRATIONS http://www.planetarymysteries.com/egypt/egyptnews/1999/224egypt.html
By now most of you will be aware of the events that will take place at Giza as part of Egypt's Y2K celebrations. These include the capping of the Great Pyramid with a 'gold' pyramidion plus an operatic extravaganza featuring music from Jean-Michel Jarre accompanied by a laser light show. Jarre will be performing 'The Twelve Dreams of the Sun' as part of a presentation that is reported to feature some 1000 artists on a stage 215,000 feet square. But recent reports indicate that "The Twelve Dreams of the Sun is now divided into three acts, instead of the original twelve. Act 1 features the pyramids covered with a special lighting design during the last sunset of this millennium. Act 2 will start at 22:30 and will feature a live concert performance lasting until 1:30, Act 3 will commence at the first dawn of the new millennium." If your lucky enough to be there, tickets for this event range between $400 (US Dollars) for a luxury party tent housing a handy toilet and '60 Egyptian Pounds (about 17 US Dollars)' for a general admission ticket. Contact the Cairo Opera House, if you are not part of an organised tour and your only looking for general admission tickets, on +202 341 7314. For more updates and information about Jarre's performance bookmark this site http://www.xs4all.nl/~galaxie/jarre/telex.htm and check back for additional information. Chris Ogilvie-Herald
