My dad died 11-11-98 liver problems from drinking over the years. He stopped drinking 6 years before his death and we became closer then ever. I am his oldest child out of 3 children. The middle child died at 2 years old I was 3 and my brother was 1 year old. Four months into ICU at JOHNS HOPKINS HOSPITAL my father who was totally in his right mind and was not at that time that day had not been given any pain medicine but did have a heart attack that morning, he smiled and winked and told me he loved me and was also having a wonderful conversation with someone in the corner of his little room.

Every time he would set his sight to the corner of his room his eyes would light up and he would talk a mile a minute. Who ever it was he was talking to he knew them and loved and was excited to see them. During his conversation with them he would laugh and shake his finger no to them. The doctor came in and I asked him if my dad was given any meds that would make him hallucinate. The answer was a big no.

When I told the doc that my dad was talking to someone in the room for a good 2 hr., my dad threw a look over to me and with a big smile said YOU SEE, and pointed over to the corner.

Well 10 min. after this they took my dad for a scope and found his bleeding started again. The doctors at Hopkins were crying. And pleaded for me to make a big decision and that was to take him off of life support. When I went back in my dads room it was different I knew then that the time was here. And in my dads best interest I kissed him good-bye. Bottom line is I believe that GOD sent an angel down to get my dad and the angel knew before I did of the decision I had to make that day.
